This position directly reports to the CEO and manages the accounting and finance team. This person will be primarily responsible for managing the financial team as well as organizing and maintaining the Company’s financial accounting records for the existing businesses as well as for any new ventures, including acquisitions and financings. This person will work closely with the CEO and the accounting team to ensure that the right processes are in place. In addition, this role’s primary focus is (i)overseeing the department to work optimally, ensuring we have the right people in place and everyone is handling the correct tasks to be efficient (ii) overseeing the processes to ensure accuracy, following the correct procedures for accurate outcomes and (iii) providing the CEO and Senior Team with the timely financial information that they need to efficiently and effectively manage the Company’s operations. We are a rapidly growing company and looking for individuals excited about leading and advancing within the accounting team.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the operations of the Accounting Department, which includes cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
Oversee the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives and being efficient.
Oversight for all general accounting and financial reporting processes.
Oversee and ensure there is a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Financial analysis and performance reporting to executive leadership and Operations staff.
Preparing quarterly financial statements and ad hoc reporting for executive management.
Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report, financial statement audit and all tax reports and issues (federal, state, and local taxes, including sales, use and gross receipts tax).
Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
Help with measuring and analysis of company performance and presentation of findings to executive team.
Manage Expense Reporting including approvals, timely submissions by internal team and reconciliation to credit cards.
Reconcile merchandise and ticket sale revenue.
Manage accounts receivable and project entry process including: Invoicing billable customers, Monitor aging
Reconcile intercompany accounts.
Review month end, quarter end and year end close calendars and track team progress accordingly.
Monitor, review, and analysis of general ledger accounts.
Manage the sales tax compliance process and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
Assist in other month end close procedures.
Identify, design and enforce new processes.
Required Competencies:
CPA required.
Experience with NetSuite required.
Strong US GAAP accounting knowledge.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 3 years as a Controller. *Preferred Industries -media, entertainment, or attractions. Touring exhibition experience, a plus.
Skilled people manager.
Experience in managing accounting teams and working closely with a CEO.
Payroll management experience preferred.
Experience in working with private companies.
Managed the operations of an accounting department.
Experience with transformational work with a growing company such as systems implementation/updating, building out policy & procedures.
Proficient at budgeting and forecasting with complex, dynamic financial models.
Has maintained and/or implemented effective internal controls.
Experience working with venture capital and private equity type investors.
Must possess a high level of attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to multi-task.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently without frequent direct supervision.
Must be able to work remotely and be willing to travel to the Atlanta office monthly to meet with the CEO.
Must be detail-oriented, accurate and organized.
Must be able to meet deadlines in a timely and effective manner. Must be able to prioritize, multi-task and work under stressful situations.
